Abstact Art series skateboard Chen Du 3929

The theme of my series of skateboards is four sins. The four sins I used in the series are according to the seven deadly sins: wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony. The sins I choose to be used in my skateboards are gluttony, pride, envy and greed. I used gradually colours in each board to connect them as a series.

The first sin is gluttony. Gluttony means the criminal of eating too much. I use the images of coke and chips to make a fat people’s face and body. The background colour is the colour of skin and fat. Coke and chips means junk food. The fat people touches his stomach because he cannot eat any more, but he still cannot stop eating chips. What he ate are not nutrients, what he ate are diseases.

The second sin is pride. Pride is a pride face made by stones. The colours I used in pride are grey and blue. Grey and blue are very cold colour. The stones are also cold. Pride people are cold to the people around them. He lifts up his head and closes his eyes. He cannot see anybody except himself. The neck of him is made of tiny stones. Neck is an important part to support his brain and face. He has a weak neck which is easy to be broken. Pride people think they are much better than other people. Who knows if his head is made by stones which cannot think and supported weakly.

The third and forth sins are envy and greed. Greed is a bird whose stomach is full of jellyfish. The colour of jellyfish is golden. Golden is the colour of money and value, but jellyfish are full of poison making living things die. The bird thinks what it ate is value, but most it ate are poison and useless water. Its skin is knitted and it cannot stand anymore because of its greed.

Envy is a rabbit who ties itself by its ears. Then it cannot hear anyone’s opinions anymore. Its eyes are red. It looks at the greed bird with envy. The colour I used is purple and green. The combine of these two colours makes people feel uncomfortable. Envy people are far away from other people and untouchable. I use rabbit because rabbit is very weak in the living things link. It’s too weak. Then it always envy.

As the moodboard. My design includes elements like SM culture, Capricorn, animals and my own face.

I mix my own face with a women with goat horn and snake tail who wears sexy night gown. The horn of goat is from Capricorn. My constellation is Capricorn who is shy, feeling unprotected, serious and hard to believe others. I close my eyes and mouth and cover my ears by hairs. I want to live in my own world. Then, I don’t need to look, hear or speak.

I belong to the Chinese year of snake. Snake is clever and it likes to control its preys with strong power. Capricorn represents demon. Demon is not a very large monster. But he has the power to control and lead.

Sexy night gown means beautiful, attract and love. SM element represents love and bind. Compare with the frog’s ugly. The women and the frog are completely different. The snake and the frog are enemies. But they bind each other and live together in my picture. The snake is not big enough to eat the frog. The frog is bound by snake’s tail and can not escape.

The theme of my picture is bind. 1 Sometimes I felt that I am bound. Depression from my parents and teachers, working hard, bad relationship with friends I care about make me cannot breath. 2 This picture also represent sometime you need to love your enemy. You rely on each other and bound by each other. 3 Living in the own world makes you selfish and desire power. You cannot live with people friendly. 4 Don’t judge people by the outlooks. The beautiful one might be authoritative. The large one might be the weak.

The artist I have chosen for my poster is Britney Spears. I love her because her beautiful face and body, her brilliant talent of singing and dancing, and her attitude of freedom. She is fettered by rules of the entertainment cycle as a superstar. As a famous event, she is used to cut all of her symbolical golden hair. I think that's because she doesn't want to be fettered by rules and she desires freedom. So freedom is the theme of my poster.
In my poster, she is a tonsured superhero. She robed the torch of the goddess of freedom. She can fly to anywhere she wants to go. She is not fettered by hair or clothes. She can breath free.
She is tonsured, but she is still beautiful. This is beauty of freedom and human nature.
She is wearing diamonds. The diamond suit is similar to her famous "Toxic" MTV look. She is a shining superstar and hero in this diamond suit.
The sunshine in this poster is strong. It represents high emotion and hope. I want her to be the really her in my poster. She is not fettered anymore. Her future is hopeful.
The background is painted in ROA's line sketching style. ROA is a great street painting artist. The main theme of his paintings are animals. I think his paintings represent a feeling of peace. My poster also represents the desire to go back to nature.

The Artist I choose

ROA is a nomadic artist traveling through the world which let’s him be totally immersed through his journeys with the native animal kingdom. The mural paintings of ROA illustrates a creative biological research about animal species in their lost habitats all over the World. He often offers an indirect comment to a current global tendency by trying to interact (through the depiction of native animals from the place) with the most territory obsessive mammal; human.
